Emblem Club 200
Emblem Echoes

We are dedicated to the community, giving, caring and sharing. In these pages you will find news, views, photos, activities and charitable events that our club is involved in. From local auctions to craft fairs we are constantly seeking ways to help our community, our schools, scholarship programs, the elderly, and anyone who may need our support. We take a positive role in the improvement of our communities.

We are proud to be part of the Emblem Supreme Club and even more proud to have the supreme honor of one of our members being State President, Barbara Guy.

Barbara's tireless efforts, enthusiasm and dedication to our club are both inspiring and motivating, she has our utmost respect. As we congratulate her, we also thank her for being such an intricate part of our club.

We're also proud to have among our membership, Charlotte Mills, recently elected 4th Supreme Vice President. In her 24 years as a member of the Rockland Emblem Club, Charlotte has served in many official positions, including President, First and Second Vice-President, Treasurer, Marshal and Corresponding Secretary.

The Rockland Emblem Club started in the early 1950's, Adah Roberts was the very first to be elected President, and she served from 1951-1952. Adah was a Charter member, instrumental in the formation of this club. We have had a long history of serving not only the Rockland area, but many of the surrounding communities. There are numerous charities that we support as well as the education needs of the children of these communities.

For many years the club has given scholarships, usually two, but as many as four, in any given year. We also have donated to the Girls State and given monies toward educational trips for the youth in local area schools. Drug awareness has been an ongoing project of which we have actively provided material and money to implement programs in local schools. Literacy is another project, that, as a club we have developed many projects to address this need in our community.

We support: Make-a-Wish, The Linus Project, local soup kitchens, Meal on Wheels, Veterans projects, New Hope for Women, and many other charities too numerous to mention. We try to find the areas of greatest need and help with whatever request might be most urgent.

The money for these projects is earned by the membership through fund raisers, annual fall/Christmas fair, and through food concessions at the Elk's Beano and Auctions with a local auctioneer.

We are pleased to note that our membership has been increasing lately with some enthusiastic and active members. This will help make our club strong and increase the amount of work we will be able to do for others.

Rockland Emblem Club is one of eight clubs in the state of Maine and is part of the State Emblem Association and also of the Supreme Emblem Club of the United States of America. We participate in quarterly meetings at the state level and an annual meeting for Supreme.

Anyone can join the Emblem Club with the sponsorship of an Emblem member and an Elk. Please contact us either by writing or phone for more information. We also welcome anyone interested to attend a business meeting on the first Thursday of each month, or a social meeting on the third Thursday of each month. We do not hold meetings during July or August.
